This is another great analogy I heard today and wanted to share.

As people in recovery we constantly need to work on our spiritual fitness and condition.

The programme is our gym, we need to put the work in if we want to get stronger and fitter. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a member for or how often you show up, if you don’t work out while you’re there we don’t make progress.

We need to work the machines, work our core programme principles. Principles like honesty, humility, love, faith, tolerance, understanding and acceptance.

I’ve personally been guilty in the past of turning up to meetings and not being fully engaged or not fully working my programme. That’s the equivalent of heading to the gym and sitting in the corner watching YouTube videos until it’s time to go home. I’ve been to the gym, but I’m no stronger or fitter for it.

Time to workout.
