I had a chat with a fellow recently which got me thinking and inspired me to start a new section on this blog, ‘Beyond the Rooms‘.

This new section will aim to cover some important principles which we learn in recovery, things like gratitude, mindfulness, meditation and self-care all of which I am beginning to understand more and more as playing a very important role in our day-to-day wellbeing and emotional sobriety.

Having spoken to many fellows and also experienced this myself, I feel it’s important to understand that while twelve step recovery can work as an excellent solution for addiction, it’s not a solution for all of life’s problems. Once we get clean and sober and start living life by a programme we also need to look at our broader thinking, behaviour and personal issues which might need support through other avenues such as mindfulness and therapy, this is what ‘Beyond the Rooms‘ will look to explore.
